Celebration of Life Ball 2018

Posted by

The Celebration of Life Ball is run and Hosted by the Cork Cancer Care Centre & Blankets of Hope Cork. And what a night it was on Sat 10th Nov 2018.

We meet some wonderful people at the Ball. I wrote a blog on Saturday night about Nuala – fighter, survivor, supporter and above all a lovely person A Priceless Photograph

We also meet with Nuala’s Mum & Dad – Evelyn & Mike – a great couple and fantastic supporters to the Cork Cancer Care Centre

We had the pleasure of having Sylvia & Miriam with their partners at the same table. Sylvia has raised a substantial amount of money for cancer charities in Cork and she has beaten Breast Cancer.

The night commenced with a reception, then a meal followed by a number of speeches. The main speech from the General Manager of the Centre Linda Goggin James was inspiring and heartfelt This was followed by a short video of the founder of the Centre Ann Dowley Spillane who passed away in Oct 2017

RIP Ann

The video is based on some of the accomplishments Ann had achieved since founding the centre in 2014. A very well presented video with quiet an emotional impact. Ann will always be a part of our lives and is sadly missed by Anita & myself.

The Cork Cancer Care Centre- are based in 26 St. Paul’s Avenue,  Cork City Centre

The Centre was completely renovated and it is a meeting place for victims, survivors, families, supporters and all are welcome. This Centre survives on public support as they have no government funding. This is a short YouTube presentation created by EMC for the Centre.

Fantastic night thanks to all the team in The Cork Cancer Centre

The blog site has now exceed 10,500 individual views from 74 countries. One of the people that originally inspired and pushed to get me to create this site was Ann, “you should tell people about your journey Ian and just maybe we can save another life”

Thank you for your continued support
