Mums 6th anniversary

Tenerife 1996

April 9th is engraved deep in my heart.

The photo above was taken in 1996 at a show we went to in Tenerife, it was Mother’s Day. Roughly 28 years ago last week. One of the many holidays we had together.

April 8th 2018 Susan, her husband Ian and myself held our mum close as she left this earth. It was not an easy passing as Mum fought to her last very last breath.

My Mum was more than my mother, she was my most trusted friend, advisor and teacher. The irony of grief, the person you most needed to talk to is gone

6 years later the pain of loss is still burning in whatever soul and heart remains within me.

But I absolutely know she is with me 24/7, still helping and guiding me, gone in body but not in spirit. It’s not my mind wishing but a reality. Anita has witnessed it on numerous occasions.

There are so many family and friends gone. My Dad in 1994, Anita’s Dad Barry in 2012, my Mum in 2018, Terry in 2023 and in between so many aunts uncles and close friends. I count myself lucky to survive but I’d have traded my life for any of these wonderful people.

This little candle is actually my background image on my mobile. I carry it to honour those close to me that have gained their wings

  1. Dear Ian and Anita,

For those who are no longer with us, we are honoured to have been able to share – a part – of our lifes with them. They’re part of us and will remain.

    Kind regards,

    Ciska
